Welcome to Skylarks.

This year Skylarks are very lucky to call the Old Hall their new classroom. We are hoping that with all the extra space we will be able to set up lots of creative and ‘hands on’ learning opportunities that the children can really get stuck into! Miss Langlands is Class Teacher and Mrs Stuart and Mrs Sayer are the Teaching Assistants. Mrs Stuart will be in class every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Sayer will be in every Thursday and Friday.
Skylarks also get to make the most of the specialist subject teachers that visit our school and will be taking on a new subject they haven’t tried before – French! On Monday afternoons Mrs Osborne will teach R.E. and Mrs Ball will teach music, and on Tuesday Mornings Madame Brown will teach French and Mr Colbeck will teach PE.
Our topics this year are going to be the Egyptians, Natural Disasters and the Victorians and we have lots of exciting trips and events planned to enrich the children’s learning. In the Autumn term we will be visiting Norwich Castle to test our skills as archeologists and Norwich Cathedral as well. Letters will be sent out with all the relevant details nearer the time.

Early in the term class Eagles, along with Skylarks and Owls, visited the Castle Museum to support our topic on Egypt. The children met an archeologist who talked about Egyptian artifacts. They were told about mummification and then joined in a “Day in the life of an Egyptian” drama with dressing-up and role play. A craft activity was organised creating Egyptian collars – a vibrant display of these can be seen in the school corridor.

Skylarks and Owls recently enjoyed a trip to Norwich Cathedral where the children joined in with a number of activities, including dancing and crafts.
