Dear Parents / Carers,
We are all facing a very challenging national situation and we would like to reassure you that we are continuing to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in a sensible and measured way. In light of the advice from Government and Public Health England (PHE) regarding symptoms and self-isolation, we appreciate all your support and understanding during these unprecedented times. Please remember that if you are self-isolating, then this should be done in line with Government and PHE guidance.
We also wish to clarify that our school will support the difficult decision you may take regarding whether or not your child attends school due to the social distancing measures outlined by PHE. The safety of our community is our main and overriding concern and we wish to support any families who may fit into the vulnerable group category.
Where a pupil is absent, in accordance with latest information and advice from Department of Health and Social Care and PHE, the absence will be authorised due to exceptional circumstances in the attendance register. Please continue to call in absences as usual, unless you have already told us that your child is not in school due to self-isolation or social distancing.
There is guidance available on social distancing and vulnerable groups which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerable-people. If anyone would like to talk through any issues that arise from the guidance please feel free to do so.
The change of policy regarding self-isolation on Monday has resulted in implications on staffing across educational settings. As the situation is changing on a daily basis, please be aware that we might have to restructure some classes or close the school to a particular year group if we did not have enough staff, or if key personnel (such as Paediatric First Aiders), were unable to come into school. At the moment we are doing our best to follow the current Government advice to stay open.
Some families have understandably asked about home learning support during self-isolation. Each cluster school is making their own arrangements for home learning, which will be adapted for their own curriculums. You will find links to tasks and activities on our school’s website in the Home Learning section imminently. Should you wish to explore additional resources, we encourage you to visit each of the school’s websites as detailed below:
If all schools are directed to close, as may be the case in the very near future, we will be supporting you further by uploading additional tasks and activities to ensure that the children’s learning can continue. Information about this will be placed on our school website within 48 hours of the Government’s decision.
We will continue to keep you updated as we receive further information.
