School closure update 4th Jan 2020
Published: 4th January 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
Following the announcement by the Prime Minister this evening, we are sad to announce that school will be closed to most pupils tomorrow (5th Jan). We are working hard to get home learning up and running and more details about this will follow tomorrow.
If you have registered as a Critical worker using the form sent out on Friday (with a reminder sent today) by 7pm this evening, an e-mail follows with details about school tomorrow. If you have not yet registered, please contact Mrs Welch tomorrow and we will do our best to find a place for your child from Wednesday. The point of the current restrictions is to reduce contacts and bring down the rate of infection. We have had lots more parents register as critical workers this time than we did back in March. In order to protect the safety of staff and other families, please only ask for a critical worker place if there is no other option. If anyone who has already registered is able to keep their child at home for more of the time, please do so. I don’t ask this lightly, but I feel I have a duty of care to school staff and their families as well as wanting to provide the best possible support for Critical Workers working under difficult circumstances.
We have been here before and I know many of you will be concerned about the impact of home learning on family life and on the children’s learning and wellbeing. We will do everything we can to keep us all in touch and to keep the children learning. I appreciate that this is not easy for anyone!
We will do our best to keep the phones manned during normal school hours, but there may be times when this isn’t possible. Please keep in touch by e-mail with any concerns or queries. Use the class e-mail address for any learning queries and the email@example.com address for anything else. You can contact Mrs Welch directly on firstname.lastname@example.org. Please stay in touch. We will be looking forward to hearing from you.
