Alpington & Bergh Apton CE VA Primary School is very lucky to have an extremely active, sociable and collaborative Friends Association. We have a large committee made up of dedicated parent volunteers and governors comprising of a Joint Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.
We meet regularly throughout the school academic year to discuss, plan and debrief many fundraising opportunities.
We have a strong relationship with the Head Teacher and work closely with her to ensure that events fit within the school calendar and are well communicated to parents. The Head Teacher discusses ideas or needs the school has that the Friends are then able to purchase via the school and are reimbursed from our fundraising account. Our accounts are regularly reviewed and assessed, and are annually audited in line with the Charities Commission.
We aim to help with the school ethos of bonding children, parents, staff and governors together with the wider community – by holding a variety of events on and off school premises – to cater for all tastes and budgets and getting people to interact, whilst enjoying raising funds for the school.
Some examples of this year’s events include a school disco, cinema evening, annual quiz night, cakes sales, uniform and clothes sale, Salvation Army clothes collection, raffles, producing a Nativity DVD, creating School canvas bags with children’s artwork, Easter competitions & egg hunts, a spectacular Christmas Fayre and a Summer BBQ. The money raised from these events has been spent on a range of items such as music tuition for Key Stage Two, school trips, outdoor learning sessions, outdoor furniture and equipment for Year Ones and helping furnish the new atrium amongst other things.
Minutes of our regular meetings and treasurers’ accounts are displayed below, allowing transparency for all. We are committed to giving the school a good name within the community and are grateful for the amazing support we receive at all our events to help enrich the education of the children at Alpington & Bergh Apton School.
The Friends are continually busy, with something usually happening on a monthly basis.
We are always delighted to welcome new parents and should anyone have any questions or suggestions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
