Computing is taught in accordance with the National Curriculum 2014. ICT at Alpington is embedded across the curriculum and we encourage children to use ICT as just another practical tool to enhance their learning. Our children use industry standard word processing and presentational software in Key Stage 2 together with a wide variety of other programs. In Key Stage 1 children experience a range of age appropriate software.
We are fortunate at Alpington to have enough hardware so that children are usually able to work independently or in pairs when using ICT.
We have interactive whiteboards in all teaching areas, desktop computers in each classroom, class sets of laptops and i-pads, digital cameras, video cameras, digital microscopes, recording devices, data-logging hardare and software, interactive Apple TV and a wide variety of software.
ICT is an essential element in our SEN provision and specific software is used to address these children’s individual needs.
