Safeguarding

Who is responsible for Safeguarding?

Everyone at Alpington is responsible for safeguarding the children in our care!  All staff receive regular training and know that they have a responsibility to follow our safeguarding policy and report any concerns about a child through the correct channels.  All visitors and volunteers to our school also receive safeguarding information and are expected to follow the procedures in place.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) are:

Mrs Rosie Welch – Headteacher.  head@alpington.norfolk.sch.uk

Mr Michael Stowers – Assistant Headteacher.  mstowers@alpington.norfolk.sch.uk

If you have any concerns or would like more information, please contact a DSL by email or by calling 01508 492700.

Anyone who has concerns about a child can ring the Children’s Advice and Duty Service.

Tel: 0344 800 8020

More safeguarding information can be found in the school’s safeguarding policy.

Operation Encompass

At Alpington & Bergh Apton Primary School we are working with Norfolk Constabulary and Norfolk Children’s Services to identify and provide appropriate support to pupils who have experienced domestic violence in their household; this scheme is called Operation Encompass. In order to achieve this, Norfolk Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub will share police information of all domestic incidents where one of our pupils has been present with the Designated Safeguarding Lead(s). On receipt of any information, the DSL will decide on the appropriate support the child requires, this could be silent or overt. All information sharing and resulting in actions will be undertaken in accordance with the ‘Norfolk Joint Agency Protocol for Domestic Abuse – Notifications to Schools’. We will record this information and store this information in accordance with the record keeping procedures outlined in this policy.
