School meals
At Alpington and Bergh Apton Primary School all children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) are entitled to a free hot school meal under the government’s Free School Meal initiative.
At present our meals are cooked for us off-site by NORSE catering and delivered to us each day. The meals are nutritionally balanced to ensure that pupils receive the accepted balance of food. Salad, bread and milk is also offered as an addition to the meal each day. There are meat and vegetarian options. Menus are sent home each term and parents are able to decide on the day what meal their child would like to eat or if they wish to bring a packed lunch.
The children dine together in the school hall regardless of them choosing to eat a hot meal or bringing in a packed lunch. As the school grows we now have lunches served in two sittings, however we aim to create a “family atmosphere” where we wait for each other to finish before clearing away.
Children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3,4,5 and 6) are not entitled to a free hot meal but they can be ordered at the current rate of £2.50. Monies owed need to be paid online every Friday for the week, please contact the office for bank details. If you feel your child in KS2 is entitled to a free school meal please use the link below for information and guidance on how to apply or alternatively please see the school secretary for an application form.
