How Hill 2026 KS1

Robins and Kingfishers Trip to How Hill

We had beautiful weather for our visit to How Hill and were able to take part in lots of outdoor activities. We learnt about some microhabitats for woodland creatures such as squirrels, badgers and spiders and we had a go at making a home for an invertebrate. We used items from the forest floor to make sofas, TVs and even a driveway for out little animal friends. Some children even had visits from ladybirds and spiders while they were building. One of our other activities was to build bigger homes for soft toys or for ourselves. The children worked in groups to carry and place logs and branches to build dens and hideouts. We also turned our hands to a bit of pond dipping to see what invertebrates we could find in the water habitat of a dyke. The children listened carefully and followed instructions throughout the day, using their science knowledge and imaginations to impress the How Hill leaders and have a great fun day out!
