“Let every light shine” Matt. 5 v 16

Church Link

Our school serves the parishes of St Mary’s Yelverton and St Peter and St Paul in Bergh Apton. Parents and children attend a variety of churches within the locality with some parents and children attending churches in Norwich. Our incumbent Rev Chris Ellis is a member of the Governing Body, he comes into school regularly to lead and take part in Collective Worship as well as lead services such as Holy Communion for the entire school community.

We enjoy links with both our parish churches, we walk to St Mary’s for our Harvest and Christingle celebrations and transport the children to SS Peter and Paul at Easter. We are fortunate in being able to use the both churches for learning such as RE and local history projects. We also work with both churches on charitable projects such as the Shoebox Service and Norwich Foodbank.

Some children from the school take part in the holiday clubs run from Thurton Church, another church in our benefice.

Members of the benefice come in once a fortnight to deliver Open Book Bible stories to all the children.

Welcome from the Rector

As Rector of the five parishes which form the Thurton Benefice, and the Bishop’s Appointed Governor of Alpington & Bergh Apton Church of England Primary School, may I welcome you. I hope you are able to find the information you require on this website about the life and ethos of the school and governing body. As the parish priest I seek to be a regular presence, supporting and encouraging the whole school community: leading assemblies, bringing the Bible to life with the Open the Book Team as well as monitoring and advising on the Collective Worship. The school has close links with two of my churches – St Mary’s in Yelverton and St Peter & St Paul’s in Bergh Apton and the children visit the church buildings at various times during the year. I am an active member of the Ethos Committee which oversees the foundational Christian vision and core values that are at the heart of our learning environment. I am always available to speak with staff, pupils and parents on any matters involving the school or life in general. In common with all the staff and governing body, my mission is to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to let their light shine.
